I start this segment of the fourth entry to my blog off with a bit of advice, when you break a rule and know you will probably get banned, it would be best not to tell others you broke the rule, when they weren't aware of the rule being broken.
That is the case of what happened tonight. I moderate a gaming site / message board, somewhere inside this vast bubble you call the "internet". Anyways, tonight I came across something that I rarely come across. Someone ratting themselves out.
On the message board, we have a strict policy where alternate accounts are not allowed, and if a user is found to have one or more, they will be banned and their alts deleted. Someone obviously decided to do so tonight. Now they could have done something to avoid that big banhammer that will soon fall down on them.
They could have asked for a name change. Simple. No, instead they decided to create the account, create a thread asking for their old account to be deleted so they could keep their new account.
Well I looked at their thread, locked it and reported it to the admins. So now the admins know, well there is a bit more. I then get a PM from the user saying: "Hi, i dont know why u locked my thread, but i just pmed an admin for them to delete my account."
Big mistake. Not only did I just get done sending a PM to an admin about this user having an alternate account, he just nailed his coffin shut by telling the admins that he has an alternate account.
Whatever happened to smart people? Why are there so many idiots on the internet now?
I will never understand. But this guy really needs to do what they call "Turn your PC off and go outside"
